Cordelia Black is a Wellington based writer, impresario and performer.
She has published two volumes of poetry, Eketahuna German Literature Society and No One Special. Her literary themes are wedded to the New Zealand landscape and psyche, but incorporate borrowings from ancient myth and European culture.
Cordelia produces and coordinates Wellington’s branch of Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, a monthly night of live drawing and performance.
She personally sponsors the Touchstone Prize for Literary Translation in Latin and Ancient Greek (awarded through the Wellington Classical Association). Cordelia is a Trustee with the Baggage Arts Charitable Trust.
Cordelia adds violin and vocals to powerhouse musical comedy trio Ginger Wine Club and the parlour music twosome The Invisible Bisexuals. She’s also recorded poetry and music with Hutt Valley based folk-punk band The Sound of Traffic.

Art Murmurs, February 2017: The Limbo Cabaret
“Cordelia Ann Black speaks with passion and a conviction with a lot of direct eye contact with the audience and even a mimed kick to my face to illustrate one particular point. This did not stop even amongst costume changes. There is a Viva la revoluciόn feel about it that buoys the energy of the room as Black’s voice gets louder and her gesticulations wilder.”
